Rory Brand, Rugby hotshot who was on loan to Rosslyn Park from London Irish has said that he was utilizing his loan out period at the team, trying to ensure that he got into the first team spot at Rosslyn.
Brand believes that his time at the Rosslyn Park was doing quite a lot for him, thus increasing his chances of making a professional debut for London Irish later this season.
Brand, 18 years old, had joined Irish from Sale Sharks in the summer last year, and was promoted to the senior academy at London Irish. In a bid to ensure that he garners the necessary experience, Brand was immediately sent out on a loan spell to National League Division One side, Rosslyn Park.
The scrum half has so far been impressive, going on to help the London side get up to the seventh position, on the table with six wins from a total of 13 played matches so far.
Brand was quoted saying, “It has been going really well since I signed. I am trying to nail down the first team spot at Rosslyn Park and that has been great for me to adjust to the physicality of the game. Two weeks ago I got a great try against Esher on a Friday night in front of a big crowd. I am there for the season now and it is important for me to have that regularity.”
In order to help his career’ Brand’s family had moved to Wigan in 2012 from Galashiels, a Scottish Border town.
Brand also talked about how he has been able to focus on Rugby while doing some education as well. He hopes he can become a professional and begin to feature for London Irish as soon as possible.
